Sophisticated route calculation approaches for microscopic traffic simulations

چکیده
In order to implement meaningful microscopic traffic simulations, a sophisticated calculation of the vehicle routes is essential. In this paper, different route calculation approaches for microscopic traffic simulators are analysed and compared. Various simulations are performed to detect traffic distribution and traffic flow resulting from the used route calculation approaches. To have simulations as realistic as possible, real OD matrices of the city of Fulda (Germany) were used for the evaluation of the different approaches. The results show that simple route calculation algorithms are not appropriate for microscopic traffic simulations. However, approaches that are more sophisticated and that integrate additional heuristics produce good results regarding traffic distribution and traffic flow and can improve iterative techniques to find a user equilibrium.

En-Route Trajectory calculation using Flight Plan Information for Effective Air Traffic Management
Trajectory modeling is foundational for 4D-Route modeling, conflict detection and air traffic flow management. This paper proposes a novel algorithm based Vincenty’s fomulas for trajectory calculation, combined with the Dijkstra algorithm and Vincenty’s formulas. Using flight plan simulations our experimental results show that our method of En-route trajectory calculation exhibits much improved...
متن کاملExtending Traffic Simulation Based On Cellular Automata: From ParticlesTo Autonomous Agents
Cellular automata models for traffic movement assume that vehicles are particles without routes. However, if one is interested in analysing microscopic properties, it is necessary to assign a route to each trip. This paper discusses the latest developments in the ITSUMO traffic simulator. These developments aim at modeling more sophisticated drivers’ behaviors such as en-route decision-making. ...
متن کاملMulti-model Based Simulation Platform for Urban Traffic Simulation
Multiagent-based simulations are regarded as a useful technology for analyzing complex social systems; for example, traffic in a city. Traffic in a city has various aspects such as route planning on the road network and driving operations on a certain road. Both types of human behavior are being studied separately by specialists in their respective domains. We believe that traffic simulation pl...
متن کاملMassive Multiagent-Based Urban Traffic Simulation
As it is getting easier to obtain reams of data on human behavior via ubiquitous devices, it is becoming obvious that we must work on two conflicting research directions for realizing multiagent-based social simulations; creating large-scale simulations and elaborating fine-scale human behavior models. The challenge in this paper is to achieve massively urban traffic simulations with fine-grain...
متن کاملA Massive Multilevel-parallel Microscopic Traffic Simulator with Gridlock Detection and Solving
Traffic simulators based on microscopic models are a detailed approach to infrastructure and policy evaluation. They allow a closer to reality representation of the factors that influence traffic flow: individual driver and vehicle attributes, dynamic route decisions, lane changing and restrictions, driver cooperation. Such aspects add to the complexity and volume of computations, leading to sl...
